RURAL ACTION ASSEMBLY
Hitting a Grand Slam for Rural Maryland: Creating a Unified Playbook for the Prosperity of Agriculture, Community, Economy, and Health 


The Maryland State Office of Rural Health (SORH), the Rural Maryland Council (RMC) and the Maryland Rural Health Association (MRHA) are collaborating to host day and half conference October 17-18, 2013 at Ripkens Stadium
in Aberdeen, MD. The event will focus on defining key issues for Maryland's rural communities. We hope through the integration of key rural stakeholders, we will work towards creating sustainable rural communities and plan for the future and prosperity of rural Maryland.

A full track of health workshops to preliminary include updates on implementation of the Affordable Care Act in rural Maryland, updates on implementation of the two rural Health Enterprise Zones, and discussions and planning for a 2014 Rural Health Legislative Agenda will be included as well as much more!

MRHA will also host an annual meeting of MRHA membership Wednesday evening October 16, 2013. Registration will open by May 17, 2013 and be similarly priced to past MRHA Rural Health Conferences. For Full Information Visit www.ruralactionassembly.org

All sponsors will be given exhibit space for the day and half and renewal of their MRHA membership. We are planning for 200 rural stakholder participants.

A block of rooms has been reserved at Courtyard by Marriott, Aberdeen at Ripken Stadium
for $129, plus 6% tax the nights of Wednesday, October 16, 2013 and Thursday, October 17, 2013. Deadline to secure this group rate is September 16, 2013 or when rooms sell out. Reservations can be made directly with the hotel by calling 1-800-321-2211 and indicating “Rural Action Assembly.” The Courtyard is located right on premises at the Ripken Stadium. Partners anticipate the hotel to sell out, so don’t delay in booking your room. As hotel sells out we will make arrangements with other hotels in the area and within a mile of complex for group rates. There are also very limited government hotel rooms at the Courtyard for $83.00 for those government employees. To get this rate you will need to have government identification and should identify yourselves as a member of the Government Group of the Rural Action Assembly when calling 1-800 number above. Deadline to secure these $83.00 government per diem rates is August 15, 2013.

Rural Health Conference 2012 

The Annual Rural Health Conference was held October 18-19, 2012 in Solomons Island, MD at the Hilton Garden Inn Solomons

The goal of the conference was to support and connect rural stakeholders as they work towards improving their communities' health in an environment of diminishing resources. The conference successfully increased knowledge to over 80 participants on the health issues facing rural Maryland. Key presenetation posted below include a keynote address by DHMH Deputy Secretary, Chuck Milligan on a comprehensive overview of Maryland's health care financing changes and their impact on rural areas in the State.
